Ok, so my buddy that I do a lot of tank trading with has a brain coral that his angel fish was nipping at. It almost killed the coral....making it half its size and hardening up. So....I took it :) Now it seems to be doing good again. Starting to plump up and move a little. But....now that it is in my tank my clownfish seem to think it is a giant waterbed. They aren't rough with it, but occasionally lay in it. Is this ok? Is this common?

Clowns will host most anything, as long as it does not seem to be irritated I would guess it is OK.

+1 just make sure they arent causing tissue resession or anything like that. Clowns in my tank seem to enjoy the powerheads so thankfully they dont bother anything.

Only you'd be able to tell if they're causing tissue recession. We don't have a before, or an after, picture to compare.

hAHA.... my clowns are doing the same..... so far no problems with it and not affecting the braincoral.

Mine did the same thing. Didn't seem to bother it much. They used to nip at the flesh until it spit out it's food then scoff it up. They finally started hosting a colt coral but still nipped at the brain once in a while. Wierd fish ::)

So did mine but the female was real rough with it while getting settled in so I decided to move the brain. Now she's decided she likes the Duncan and now it isn't looking so hot lately.

LPS corals are not well suited to hosting clowns. Even if there is no visual evidence of harm, the coral would be even healthier if the clowns were not hosting in it.

+1 I've had clowns kill so many LPS corals and a gigas clam that once the one that I have in my tank now goes the way of the dodo, I'll never keep them again.
