Clown looks really bad..

got home from work and noticed this one one of the fins and the fins seems like its torn a little bit near the white. the clown seems to be acting a little funky also. I should also note that this guy has been getting picked on alot by the other clown

 

The stress of being bullied causes, the parasite marine ich to take hold, secondary bacterial infections, Brookynella to take hold.

If the clown is being bullied to the point it's fins are torn it's time for an intervention, such as moving rock work, putting the female in a breeders basket or sump for a few days.

Feed quality foods, not flake. Add some garlic or selcon to the food if eating.

 

Alright thanks good thing ive had some sponges soaking in my sump for my qt tank... Ill put the female (i assume its a female) in the qt and move some rocks around also

 

+1 to corailline, did you notice a white spot on the area where the fin is now damaged? that is what happened to me at the very begging when i first added my clowns. they were together in the display tank at the LFs with other true percula so they were not a couple per say but they became one shortly after i brought them home (mine never fought each other however) did you add them at the same time?

so yea what im trying to say is that the damage you see on the fin could be due to the Ich cyst popping. as mentioned feed them good healthy fresh sea food with a little garlic, the ich will go away (if your water is good and the fish is not stressed) and the fin will heal.

 

Thats exactly it.. fin is damaged where the spot is. I ordered some selcon but until i get it ill be soaking in garlic for the time being. The clowns have been in the tank for a tad over a month.. im not sure how long it takes for them to pair, thats even if they do pair

 

nothing is ever certain, better chances if you added them together. i personally didnt use any treatments aside slightly stepping up my water changes to rid the problem. (im really not a fan of the array of "miracle" chemicals out there, this said i do supplement with trace elements...anyway...) hope it works out for you buddy

 

Thanks, ive been feeding a little more than usual and hes actually looking better. Now, all the gha in my tank is another story lol, i hope that its just a phase since my tank is still new..

 

it was for me and my tank was new (about 3 months) as well. keep an eye on him and all should fall in place. what im more worried about is that they have not paired yet.

 

everything was fine in my tank until one clown decided to live in my goniopora coral. after that he became super aggressive
