it's either ich or some type of fungus, get it in a quarantine tank asap and treat it. copper works against almost anything.

How long has he been in with the anenome? mine looked like that for the first week while getting used to each other then cleared up, but if he's been in there awhile i'd certianly QT him. Some garlic in his food wouldn't hurt either way.

May be black ich? ive never seen a clown with black ich before. Does he seem to be itching himself at all? I would try an R.O. freshwater dip for 3-5 min with the water the same temp and ph the same. Then dose your tank with Malafix. Our Yellow tang broke out in black ich and using the method above was gone in one day. best of luck.

I wouldn't dip him in Freshwater as it would only stress the fish out and possibly leave him susceptible to infection. It doesn't look like ich IMO. I've never seen black ick on a clown, so I suppose its possible, but I think it's just because of the anemone.
    Good luck :D

She seems to be fine, but the discoloration is still there. No scratching, but I think it was a sick anemone that did it to her. I have a purple footed BTA that is sick and ive seen her try and host it. I think the sting from my other BTA rubbed off on the clown then she went and hosted the purple foot BTA and rubbed the sting off on the purple foot. The purple foot almost died but I took it out, and flushed it with salt water for an hour then put it in a higher flow area and it reattached it self to a clean rock and seems to be growing new tentacles that were stung off.

So this might be a result of her trying to host a incompatible BTA

Just keep an eye on her. If she is acting healthy and eating then she is still alright. To many people panic and stress the fish even more with dips and such, and then it will get sick. I agree could just be from the anemone irritating her skin.

As long as hes eating leave him be. What he has isnt going to kill a healthy eating fish.

Clowns will get dark spots when they are acclimating to the anemones they are beginning to host. They will grow a tolerance to the stings, so it's almost like scar tissue of sorts. It should go away after some time. What to watch for is flakey or cotton like substance on the body. Don't fresh dip him, and do not use copper, just feed him good food soaked in garlic and vitamin C supplements.
