That's how they get a lot of the designer clowns. Like you said, just like dogs lol.

It kind of goes against what most say

You shouldnt have 2 different clowns in the same tank kinda like a pitbull and a poodle lol

You can have two different kinds to some degree. You would want to try and mix a big female maroon with a baby ocellaris, but for the most part, if they look similar, you can make a pair out of two.

So a tomato might breed with a maroon or a nemo might breed with clarki or black and white

You wouldn't want a maroon with an OC. You could have a pair of maroons and a pair of OCs in different tanks, with shared water between them and get cross fertilization. The likelihood though depends on genetic similarity. I believe OCs and percs is still much more likely than OCs and Maroons for example.

No... they re not in the same genus (maroon = Premnas biaculeatus and clarkii / B&W are both Amphiprion sp. ) ;) species in the same genus will sometimes interbreed.

I've seen percoon clowns, a mix of percs and GSMs apparently...

Here is a sponsor that sells the following pairings:

maroon-ocellaris pairing, bicinctus-picasso pairing, black oynx-black saddleback pairing, picasso-tomato pairing, black saddleback-maroon pairing, cinnamon-pink skunk pairing, platinum-wyoming white pairing, orange skunk-ocellaris pairing

So I guess yes, it is possible.
