I have a new ocellaris in my tank from about 2 weeks ago. i just noticed that the lower belly is starting to swell a little bit. how big do clowns get before being "mature"? mine is maybe 2"-2.5" and is hosting a BTA, as far as i can tell i dont think its chosen a mate out of the other 2 clowns.

    any advice?

Hosting an anemone isn't indicitive of it's sexual maturity. How much larger is this particular one in relation to the other 2? You should see a noticeable difference between the male and female. For example, look at my maroons, the female is about 7" now and the make is about 2.5". Once the pecking order is decided, the female will grow like she is on steroids while the male will remain small. The other neuter male will just hang out solitary until he takes his place as dominant male, and that's only if/when one of the others die. If the belly looks swollen, it just may be close to pooping time. Mine gets like that weekenly too, but no eggs thus far.

also dont even bother with clown fish laying eggs it happened to me and there born at night and they just get sucked into the filter that night and die unfortunatley and even if they do survive the first night its extremley hard to raise them up till they can eat pellet food
