after having my female clown for a few months now, she still has not gained weight. Other than the fact that i can see the outline of her bone structure she is perfectly healthy. She is still an active swimmer, a big bully to the male, and eats like a pig, no sign of any health issues. Her stool has always been long white and stringy but i've decided that it's probably from the mysis. I feed frozen mysis and brine shrimp soaked in garlic juice once every other day.

What else can i do to fatten her up, is there some type of food that will help her gain weight

I believe that I mentioned once that white stringy poop usually means internal parasites. Have you done anything at all to treat this fish? If not, I'm not sure why you would expect it to get better.

I'm sorry PC, doesn't work that way.

If you really want, you can stop feeding mysis and try feeding something else (variety is good anyway) like regular old marine fish pellet food and see if the poop changes. Then you'll have some sort of information to base a decision on.

ok i'm going to the lfs today so i'll see what kind of flake and or pellet food they have, should i still feed the brine

ok i'll see if the lfs has some or flake. I'm hoping it's not a tape worm of some kind, i saw an episode on the Tyra Show about tape worms and how they make you loose weight, the guest on the show had a jar that had a huge tapeworm that was from a dolphin, really gross

Personally, I would switch to a good quality flake food and only feed mysis sparingly. Skip the brine altogether unless you are soaking it in Selcon before feeding.

brine has no nutritional value whatsoever. and garlic only makes the fish hungry. it does not add nutrition in any way. stop the brine and get some other frozen foods or pellets.
    good luck
