I brought home a perfectly healthy maroon clown on Thursday. He began to eat spectrum formula after only a couple hours in the QT. There's also a Niger Trigger in the QT and from time to time, the Trigger would give the clown a nudge. Now, four days after being introduced, he stopped eating completely. I'm aware that he could be stressed because of the trigger so I just moved him to a separate QT and home he settles in again. Is it the stress that forced him to stop eating or could it be something more serious.

BTW, is it just me or are there really lots of threads about clownfish problems?

Its not just you. I chock it up to them being the most common fish for marine tanks. Not sure on your other questions though.

Think it's the breeding season for them, or something..??
Even tho they may be to young to breed..

I hope yours gets OK.. And I would say stress.. Have you used B. shrimp, mysis shrimp, etc.? Mine is a very picky eater..

By any chance is this a verified captive bred clown?
It is fairly common for wild caught clowns to stop eating shortly after introduction.

It's most likely a wild caught maroon.

I haven't tried the brine or mysis as yet. Just the spectrum soaked in Garlic. I'll give the brine a try.

    Try brine

I introduced two clowns last week, one has already died but think he was not in good shape when I got him. The other is happy as hell and loves the brine shrimp. Give it a whirl.

My false perc. wouldn't eat soon after introduction also. Frozen brine was the only thing I could get him to eat. After a few feedings with that, I had no trouble switching over to healthier foods. Now he eats anything I throw in there, whether I want him to or not!

My maroon eats from my hand! :)
I use frozen marine cuisine cubes for feeding my whole tank.

So I just got back home from a vacation in Tobago. I know it wasn't the best time to go away since I have a sick clown but... He died while I was away. I kind of expected it to die. He wasn't in the best of shape when I got him. His fins were a bit frayed from a large tomato clown at the LFS and my Trigger was giving him a hard time... I'll try again with clowns in a few weeks... I'm aiming to start a breeding program soon. We only have a couple local breeders in Trinidad.;)
