Finally found my clown surgeon. It has great color, is very active and eats everything I throw in the tank. Looks like I may have lucked out and got a good one on the first try.

Very pretty fish, but aren't they fairly aggressive?

That's what I hear. It's in the tank with two clowns who have an anemone though so I don't think I will have issues. I will have to trade it in before it hits maturity anyway though.

They are really beautiful, and like a cousin to a sohal. I would be concerned about keeping one of these guys in such a small tank (if thats the case).

lol I am yet to have a fish that belonged in my tank, and am yet to have a problem with it. The key is to accept this from the beginning, don't get too attached and bring the LFS a bigger healthier fish when it's time. The LFS loves me here. They bring in hard to keep fish, I buy them and in a year bring them a well established aquarium fish they can feel good about selling.

A funny side note: I took my scribbled rabbit fish in about a week ago. When I stopped in at the store to check on it yesterday it just about jumped out of the tank when it saw me. they truly have a huge personality.

Glad it works out for you.

As for trading fish in, I couldn't do it. Obviously they recognize you. I would feel very bad about giving them away. Just like I couldn't just give away my cat.

I try to get no attachment to my fish, but I have to say I was pretty sad to see my scribble there begging for food. I stood there for about ten minutes thinking of how fast I could have a tank set up, but then had to move on. Part of the thing I enjoy most about reefs is diversity. I managed to fit a huge diversity of coral in my tank, but I can only squeeze in so many fish. The only I found to fight this SO far is to swap out fish once in awhile.

I am trying to plan a fish holding sump for future use though. I'm planning on having a sump about four times the size of my DT with a pass through for fish from it into the DT. Then I could truly have my dream overstocked tank with plenty of room for the fish to swim in the holding sump.
