i am thinking about removing the nem and adding a bigger torch. Also, at this 1" size, could i get any 2 and have them eventually pair? Are they too small to commit to a gender at this size?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Yes they are too small, but in a short time one will become the dominate larger female and one the small submissive male. It's not very often that I see a female not accept a male she was introduce to when smaller.

If you are looking for a pair your it's better to get them together. When a signal clown is left alone in a tank they usually (almost always) become a female. Then later on when you add another clown if you do not make sure it's male or sexually immature the female will not accept, which can lead to the second clown's demise.

I tried the whole coral hosting clownfish thing...clown killed a four torch heads, hairy mushroom, purple mushroom, then it started to get in some xenias and those are just now coming back... Got a bta and didn't have to worry about it killing my corals from moving cause my clown already did. My experience is not to try to pair up clowns and corals

like we have gone over this many times before... the warty anemones are not clown hosting species. they are from the atlantic and pacific coast, whereas clowns are in the pacific islands. such as indonesia. they never even cross paths in nature. it would be about as common as a percula hosting a condy. and perculas are very picky clowns. even when you get their natural host nem alot of the time they wont even host it.

I didn't want the clown to host the warty, i wanted to know if it is safe to keep a clown in the same reef as a warty nem.

sorry the thread mislead me, but the same basics still apply. the clown wont recognize it as a threat so will not avoid it like anemones in its natural habitat that it normally hosts. it will probably get eaten. and if it tries to host it will get eaten as well.

Euphyllias usually don't react well to hosting a clown long term.

i missed this as well, if a clown hosts anything it does not host in nature including condys warty anemones and any tentacled coral the stings affect the little guy long term. if they stay hosting it long term it wont end up good. with coral the sweeper tentacles will sting them very badly
