Anyone have any luck putting a lone clown in with a mated pair of clowns in a 90G . Or would this be his death ? I'm trying to shut down a 55 and I like the clown but don't want to keep the tank going just for him .

Not a good idea. Generally when the mated pair reaches maturity, in an aquarium is quite common for them to wipe out what juvenile clowns are also present

In your case the third clown is not a juvenile but a mature female. Two female clowns in one tank, like a 90, is a recipe for aggressive behavior. Really big tanks are needed to keep multiple clown females
