How long has the tank been set up and established(running after completed cycle)? If it hasn't been long, a better option might be a torch or hammer coral. They are easier to care for and clowns will host it too.

+1 I agree. Your system is to new for a Nem to survive.

If your parameters are in check and water quality is stable, the Tomato Clown prefers the Bubble-Tip Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor) or the Sebae Anemone (Heteractis crispa), with the former being the easiest to keep in an aquarium.

What size is your tank? For all intents and purposes, 680gph is not all that great for a reef tank if it's larger than a 30 gallon.

That said, IMOE not all nems appreciate strong lighting or current. Each individual has it's preferences for both. I'd suggest a minimum of 30x turnover, then let the nem find a suitable place to settle.

It's a 30g and it has T5OH 4X24 watt fixture, and i was shooting more for a softy than a nem. don't think i'm experienced enough for 'em just yet

That's not really normal in the wild, but clowns do take to stranger things in captivity. lol I once had a pair of Ocellaris that preferred the heater over 3 different nems as well as several soft and LPS corals. :)

It is wise of you, however, to wait to buy a nem-- as already pointed out, your tank really isn't mature enough. I was only pointing out specifics to help make a decision in the future.

For what you have going so far, there are several soft corals that prefer low to medium current that you could keep. You need to get your flow closer to or above 900gph for most anything else.
