clownfish and plate long tentacle coral???

    hey guys...
    so i woke up this mornin and my clownfish is healthy and happy
    and an hour later its lying down in my plate coral dead....
    is it possible that it killed my clownfish???
    anyone had this experience...
    parameters are fine... all other fishes and corals are healthy at the moment....

    He got stung to death

    Anemones and clownfish aren't really symbionts. The clownfish learn to pick up the mucus from the anemones foot before they go into the tentacles where there are nematocysts. The only reason they aren't eaten is because the anemone doesn't really know it's there.

    its not an anemone tho... its one of those plate coral (long tentacles)
    is it the same behaviour and capabilities as anemones.????

    That's a very aggressive coral. It's actually the only coral that can "walk". They will sting the living daylights out of other corals and, in your case, fish.

    curt is saying since there is no slime on the foot or no foot, the clown fish will try to go in it like a anemone and be stung to death(corals have stinging cells too).

    There's nothing wrong with Heliofungia. You just have to understand that they must be target fed meaty foods on a regular basis or they are going to find their own food.

    ok thanks... if i feed it mysis all the time... is that ok??
    or do i have to give it varities as well???

    I would assume that your mysis is frozen mysis and is enriched. That should keep it quite happy. If you have krill too, a piece now and again would be awesome but I wouldn't go out and buy it if you don't already have it.
