Clownfish black lines looking strange?

I don't know what this is all about, but it looks as if the black lines on my clownfish are "smeared"

I know this picture isn't good, but it's at the black line near his head, close to his fin.

 

Could just be a genetic variation, could be that the clown is young and has not reached it's full coloration as of yet.

 

My other one has it too, but not to that extent. Its not any kind of disease or anything right?

 

Not a disease that I know of.

As long as they are eating and not breathing at the surface or in the corner they are probably fine.

Common disease to clowns are Marine Ich and Brookynella, research those and see if you see some similarities.

 

IIRC that's the gill cover (operculum).

 

+1, My clowns are of a similar size and I have done some research, realizing that it's just their gills and the lines will become more bold as they grow bigger.

 

I was just thinking "the guy upstairs" might have colored outside the lines
