I'm going to be short and simple here, I have a black percula clown and I'd like to add another clown (the existing clown is about 1.25"). I know I could add another percula (orange or black) of similar size (being the one I have is a Juvi). The fish I'm looking at is different though, it is a maroon/percula hybrid, confirmed by wet web media (Bob Fenner) and I was thinking about adding that to my tank. It is such a pretty fish, orange like a percula maybe even more, with the flowing fins of a maroon... Does anyone have one of these who can tell me more about the behavior, i.e. is it more percula or more maroon like? Do you think I could put these two (slightly) different fish together?

    never know until you try.

the only advise make sure there is a large size difference. With your hybrid being the bigger, since its more aggressive. if you add a perc. If you add a maroon make the maroon alot bigger, while removing the hybrid from the tank for a couple days so it loses its established territory. This forces the smaller clown to either give in or die. also make sure the smaller clown has a place to retreat to that the big one can't get in to.

well it may work ok if they are around the same size. You just want the maroon mix to end up with the other fish submissive to it. It may work out that way anyway because of the maroons mixes temperment.

but you have to be ready for the possibility of it not working and you netting the new one out.

They don't have anything to challenge in your tank lol. Think of conspecifics

The tank is a 56, 30"x18"x24", I've got a neon dottyback 3" (love my headed snake) pink/blue spot goby 6", earlier mentioned black percula (about 1"), and the Mar-ula i'm looking at is about 1-1/2 inches. My biggest fear is that at some point the maroon-like behavior is going to come out and he's going to go into attack mode, but then again there is a LFS here that has a 5" maroon (really burgundy color with silverish bars, kinda neet too) in with the baby ocellaris that are 1/2" to 1" max and no ill effect.
