I purchased a pair of clownfish yesterday and today is feeding day. My wrasse never has a problem eating but my clowns did something odd, they would pick the PE Mysis up, chew and spit it out. They would both do this multiple times during a 5 minute period before my wrasse finished off the meal. Are they getting anything out of this or are they just playing with their food?

..sounds like they don't like it. But sometimes smaller fish with chew, spit out, and chew food again to help break it down.

Why not try feeding them something else

They are probably just still acclimating to your system. I would give them a few days..do they seem healthy otherwise?

+1 most new fish will take a day or two, or even a week before they will accept food.

Oh yeah, their doing much better then my previous clowns. I've worked with them for about a month at work to make sure nothing was wrong with them before I purchased them. Ive never fed them the PE mysis, only newlife spec pellets. I'm planning on picking some up tonight.

My fish used to do that also, like they said. If they aren't going back for more after spitting it out, try something different.

Maybe they're still acclimating like he said, if they are still rejecting it after a few days I'd try something else.
