Pickle - what size pipettes (3ml, etc?) do you use and where do you get them from?

Don't forget to make sure your culture buckets or anything else that comes in contact with your rot cultures are clean.I clean mine with ro water and vinegar then air dry for a couple of days.Keep at your almost there.:)

Daniel - Long time, no see buddy! How have you been? How are your breeding efforts going?

I only have one sieve that I rinse off with tap after each use and let it air dry.

I know a lot of people like to use vinegar... What exactly does it do? What would happen if residual vinegar got into a rot culture or fry tank?

I use a 2 ml pipette - you can find them on ebay- I get them at work. :-X

So I guess it's safe to say I feed 2 ml per feeding with the rotigrow + - the amount you feed may vary depending on your phyto and it's consistency. When I fed nano it took just around 1.5 ml per feeding because it was so thick.

Vinegar works as a neutralizer and is not toxic - that's why they recommend you clean your tank glass and equipment with it.

When I used bleach to clean things I would of been alright if I followed the cleaning with a good soaking in vinegar and dried it out real well after.

I don't get as crazy with my rot buckets - I spray the bucket out with hot water and clean the inside with a paper towel - spray and repeat. Once I'm done I could turn around and use it right away without worry.

Hey Pickle - My Rotigrow Plus and rots are due to arrive today. I've got my water bottles emptied out and drying and I'll split up and freeze the Rotigrow Plus like you suggest.

I was wondering if they provide basic information on the rots... like what salinity the water that they're packaged in is at, etc. Do you simply add the contents of the bag to a bucket or do you add the contents of the bag and fill the difference of the five gallon bucket with freshly mixed/aged salt water? Do you tint on the first day or are they packaged with feed?

How many drops/mL do you use to initially tint the fry tanks post-hatch?

Thanks again for all of your help.

Sorry I didn't see the post sooner! I'll PM you my cell phone number so if later on you need any help on the fly you can just call me.

I find my rots do best in 1.018 salinity though.

Oh and after the hatch when I tint the tank I typically add about 2 pipettes or 4 ml to the fry tank water and continue adding like I do on my normal rotifer schedule - every 12 hours.

    Thanks Mike!

Got the rotigrow divvied up and put in the freezer and also got a fresh new rot culture going!

Also have two fry past day 9 and one definitely looks healthy - hoping to see signs of meta soon. I would be thrilled with even one! ...even if it's ugly lol.
