It's amazing how small these guys start off life. It def makes you appreciate them a little more when you know all of the struggles that they've overcome in the wild or even in our own tanks.

Thanks William! The daily chores don't seem so bad now that we have had a taste of success and know that we aren't going to fail EVERY attempt like the previous 5 or 6 tries :). It's easy to get discouraged when you spend a lot of time and money only to watch them die. Just being able to watch our first fry go through meta, get a headstripe, and start turning orange makes it all worth it.

Baxter - were there any mistakes that you made early on with your fry that were going through or just finished meta?

Quick update. We still have two fry from our 5/11 hatch (15 days old)! The larger one has a well defined headstripe now and is getting more and more orange by the hour it seems! Unbelievable how much this guy changes just during the time I'm away at work. The smaller fry has def hit meta now. He is showing the tail curling and gut elongating signs. Seems like he is roughly 2 days behind the larger one when it comes to development - looks healthy as a horse though... Just a late bloomer? Lol

We also had another hatch on 5/24 that has yielded a handful of active fry. These guys will have everything in place from the very beginning so I'm excited to see improved survival rates and much more rapid growth (hopefully) than our 5/11 fry.

Went very well - I'm sitting on close to 250 snowflakes alone now.

And... I have a hatch coming Sunday night.
