    Congrats on the healthy culture.

Are you going to move the skull with the eggs right before the hatch or try to capture as many on the night of the hatch as you can?

    Good luck.

I think we're going to try to move the eggs on hatch night again. If we don't have much luck with it this time, next time I think we'll switch it up.

    What method did you use?

I have not raised clown fish in about 7 years. At the time though I found it better to leave them as long as possible with the parents right up to the night of hatch. Which is hard to be exact about until they get so routine it is like clock work. Taken too early and the hatch rate drops and fungus quickly sets in. Air stones are so so. The male does a much better job.

The breeding of clownfish has come along way in those 7 years. There a new foods available once they are off the rotifers.

I may try it again in the not too distant future.

We're pretty sure tonight is going to be hatch night. We've got a TON of rots ready for the fry's. We've also blacked out three sides of their tank, and made sure the heater light will not be visible. Here is a pic of the two takig care of their eggs. Will update tomorrow!

Are you putting the fry in with the rotifer culture or feeding the Rotifers to the fry? I ask because the blacked-out tank (blacked out for the fry) looks to be filled with green water which is what I assume you're using to raise the Rotifers.

No, we have the culture growing in our garage. There was a chance they could of hatched last night so we put some rots in their tank just incase.

Oh ok, I just asked because the water in the blacked out tank looks really green.

How are you feeding the Rotifers to the fry? I used an extremely fine net to filter out the Rotifers but I also read coffee filters work just as well. Then I put net/filter in the fry tank and waved it about to get the Rotifers off. This keeps most of the algae/green-water out of the fry tank water which pollutes very easily due to no flow or bio-filtration.

It looks greener than it really is. I added some fresh phyto in there last night to keep the rotifers alive long enough to get eaten. I used a 56 micron filter to harvest the rotifers from one of my cultures. I know the water in the rotifer cultures deteriorates quickly but I didn't think the phyto did. The hatch tank is only half full at the moment so we will be adding more tank water (which will help dilute the phyto and any ammonia that is in there now) in along with the fry... Hopefully within the hour here.
