Haha that's awesome. I can't wait to get some of these in my tank, I'm going to give them quite the selection (yes, I know I'll probably still get the pair that likes the powerhead lol).

i havent had much luck with my ocellaris clown. i've read that since they are captive bred they may never host anything i throw in the tank. mine hangs out in the halmida macro algae i have in the DT. I'm looking to remove that and add a rose tip bubble anemone since they are so beautiful and I wouldn't mind if one took over my tank. also have heard people having great success with clown fish hosting to these types of anemones

That's a terrible myth. Where do these things come from.

These clowns killed my gigas clam and the elegance that is in my signature. If you're going to get a clown to nest in something, make sure that it's not an LPS or a clam. Soft corals can take the constant nuzzling/biting but LPS and clams can not.

Personally, I find clowns hosting in my coral annoying, looks too unnatural to me and sometimes it's harmful to the coral. But they definitely do it to whatever they want.

I would definitely give some sort of euphyllia a try, I've found the non branching varieties to be less stressed by it then the branching...but, when I say I've found, I mean in the one time it happened to me, the branching frogspawn was pissed all the time while the non branching hammer didn't seem to notice.

If your tanks big enough, get a maroon clown, they seem to be less prone to rubbin up on everything.

There is always the risk the rubbing will tea the flesh of an LPS on it's own skeleton.

That clown in the clam kinda makes me want to throw up...sorry it died, gigas are amazing

not sure really, on forums everyone has a PhD in marine biology. Good news for me though, I like the thought of my clown hosting in something, not a clam though that would make me cry! (LFS just recieved a $500 clam that looks like blue cheetah skin, simply amazing)

Thank you everyone for posting your experiences, I definitely learned a few tips for when my tank is ready for the clowns to go in :)

I have seen this very often and just want to make clear clowns don't host anything its the anemone or coral that hosts the clown. Also like has been mentioned I am not sure why anyone would want to encourage a clown to choose a coral as a host. In the 21 years I had a maroon it killled at least 50 different corals in my tank. The only coral that could withstand the constant "attention" for any length of time was a finger leather but it too eventually perished. I myself would never have or encourage another clown in a reef tank. I just love my corals too much and they alweays seem to pick my favorite piece as there "nest".
