    Just trying to make sure these are the right clowns. They were sold to me as ocellaris.

    yeah doen't look like enough black edging, but read that article and count the dorsal spines to double check! I've only owned OC's and never a perc, so i'm no expert!;)

    An Occy's eyes look completely black, the perc's eyes have a smaller area of black IIRC.

    Occelaris have All Black Eyes, Where Perc's will have either a yellowish or Orange cornea around the center.

    Check out my Platinum clown, its a perc look at the eyes, compared to your occ.

    I don't have access to the article, but this abstract hints that we are all wrong. That there are 3 species, not two.

    There is a bit of overlap in the range of A.percula and A.ocellaris. Mainly in the areas around New Guinea. I'd venture to guess that the wild caught clowns we see on the market today which show characteristics of both species come from this area (the Arafura Sea, etc.).
    Coloration is not a good way to determine if you have a true or false percula. Counting the dorsal spines is the only sure fire way for us to identify them.
