So I got me two clownfish on Sunday, he was swimming with my other clownfish and yellow tail damsel.....yesterday, I noticed one of the new clownfish started shaking....like dancing samba or something....it only did a couple of times..he was also not eating....this morning I found him stuck in the skimmer's intake (PH intake)....any ideas? On Sunday, when I bought it, the LFS guy tested my water and told me it was fine. They always test your water before they sell you fish....The other clownfish, an albino one...I call him albino, 'cause he's yellow whiteish with a single white line accross his face..anyway, he's fine....I also got some crabs, they're fine too.

Now, about the Goby. I had a problem with green water last week, it's all good now thanks to a UV sterilizer....what's weird is...a day after the water got clear..my sand sifting goby was gone....I checked to see if he had jumped out, but nothing...I checked the skimmer PH intake...nothing...I moved all the rocks..still nothing!!! at the time I had/still have today, two cleaner shrimps and one emeral crab...is it possible he died and got eaten?

Anyway, if any of you can provide some info to solve both mysteries, I'll appreciate it. Thanks.

the clownfish was doing his dominance dance thing.he probably just swam to close to the skimmer like my goby did.

the goby can be stuck retty deep in the intake.mine was when i ripped his corpse out with tweezers he was half gone.but nowhere to be found.i belive the rest was chopped up and fed to the other fish.maybe yours went in all the way and chopped up.if its a aquac remora with a maxi jet 1200 it should have came with an intake cover.mines did.maybe your lfs has a spair lying around.

I've had gobies jump out before. Check for a potato chip behind the tank.

If fish are healthy to begin with they won't get sucked into a powerhead. My clowns always hoted my powerheads and never got stuck neither did my goby. I would say your clown most likely lost the dominance dance with the other clown and ended up bullied and dead. When the fish is unhealthy or dead then they will get stuck to the PH. The goby could be hiding in a rock. My goby always hides in the rockwork.

Never put different clown species together, and always make sure the new clown is smaller than the other one. 99% of the time two clowns in one tank will only work out if they are added together at the same time.

fish can be healthy and just swim along the wrong current and bam sucked right in expecially smaller fish.and gobies are knwon to swim to the top at nite looking for a jumping spot and thatspot can be in the wrong place too.each circumstance is different.

I almost pissed myself when I read this lol!!

I have checked in the back, but I don't see anything.

As for the clown being a bully, ain't clownfish supposed to be friendly? I have one Pink Skunk Clownfish and Ocellaris Clownfish, the weird thing is, the Ocellaris is the dominant one, I know Pink Skunks can be aggressive, but not this one...he's a wuss.

I was thinking about buying a couple of anemones, but I'm not sure which anemone is for which clown....any ideas?

As for the PH intake, I am now using a grill to cover the one intake where the clown got stuck.

About the goby jumping out, I'm actually thinking about putting my tank's glass lid on, whill this affect the tank in any way? there would be an opening 3 inches wide and 36 inches long at the back of the tank.

Thanks for the help guys. Let me know about the anemones if you can. Peace.
