Ok, so I've been dosing sugar 1/4 tsp for about four days, no longer going to do this. I also introduced another clownfish (wild caught) a few days ago. This morning I noticed my old clownfish (tank raised) which I have had for over a year had some stringy white poop, heavy breathing and just seemed disoriented and won't eat. The other clown, all other fish in my tank, inverts and coral are all fine. In fact, my monti seems to have gotten some growth. I really dont want to lose this fish as its one of the first ones I got when I set this tank up. I do not have a quarantine, however I do have a 15 gallon fuge. Im feedin rods food soaked in selcon and garlic, but since it wont eat it doesnt make any difference. The fish has pulled thru a many infections and ich over time when I had outbreaks of ich and such after introducing my hippo for example. Ich has been long gone from my tank though and I havent had any issues for a long time until now. I'm guessin this is some sort of bacterial infection perhaps from its immune system being overwhelmed or something the other clown brought with it. Like I said, all other fish, coral, and inverts are doing just great and hopefully just stopping the sugar will help it pull through. I really dont know wt else to do :(. By the way, my nitrates are still high, but its only been about 5 days of sugar dosing. Gonna go a water change soon. Any ideas since it wont eat?

i think a fat water change will help as well as laying off the sugar dosing for a while... could be a viral infection brought in my the wild clown

Yea, I HOPE it makes it through the night, I'll do a water change in the mornin. I dont have a ro/di so I get my water from the lfs ro/di pre mixed at a $1 a gal. I do admit that the wild clown is better looking with its darker color. They both got along instantly as the new one is smaller.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I think I read some where that the white stringy poop is a sign of a parasitic infection in the intestine.

They should be ok. Just monitor the little guy as they might get agressive towards him. Since the little one is only a few days old and you just lost a bigger one, there really wasn't enough time for it to become female, which would have been a problem.

Yea, i was thinkin the same thing. They are all doing ok, they arent picking on the little one but hes still keeping a bit of distance. My large damsel is tryin to pick on the larger of the two new ones. I've never seen him have an issue with clowns but I guess its because of its size. They are holding their own though and seem to be doing fine, also readily accepted some spectrum pellets. I may just take the small one back to the lfs for credit. Also I was hoping they wouldnt end up in the same corner as the previous clown (top front right corner, by the koralia) and maybe host something, but I think the other fish in the tank keeping them in that spot.
