I just bought a pair of Clownfish the other day (Friday) after a three long months. They're the only fish in there so nothing is there to scare em but they seem to be spending most of their time at the top of the tank out of view :(
My question is are they ever gonna come out and play?!?

My black clowns were so cute, always in the middle swimming around, following you or your finger. I was afraid they weren't gonna be like my old clowns and far they're not...

It sounds to me like they are just acclimating to your tank. I have a damsel fish that loves to hang out behind my power head and my other damsel fish swims everywhere. They have been in my tank since I think mid-June.

Give em some time. Mine decided behind the powerhead would be a good home for about a week. Depending on your stocking choices an active friendly fish like a reef safe wrasse can bring them out alot.

Nice nem will def help them find a home closer to the bottom of tank. Also can help with acclimation. BTA or long tentacle are typically good choices and are very pretty. The clown in my 10g hosts a very large hairy mushroom. He is super active around the tank. He does share it with a 6 line wrasse though ;)

They are getting used to your water, Once they are used to it they will directly swim around.

They are new to the tank so they are getting used to it. They will start swimming around as long as you have created a good home for them. My clowns always slept at the top if the tank like rubbing on the side and the water in my hex though they were everywhere during the day. Only reason for concern that I can think of is if they are needing more oxygen in the water then thy are getting. I am thinking you don't have to worry at all as long as you have some powerhead surface breakage and or a skimmer.

Yeah I have an EVO750 (maybe? Or one step higher) breaking the surface and a skimmer. I'm just worried cause I haven't had the best of luck the past year. Also my other clowns were great from the get-go.

    Just a little nervous...

Are they percs? If they are that's typical behavior. I have a Picasso and Platinum (both percs) that like to hang in the back corner and not the front. So sadly I don't get to admire them.lol

Oh poo. Yeah they're percs. I love my buddies Picasso's but I believe that's what his do too. They have whole darn thing to themselves! Maybe I can trick em with food....
