    Hi everyone,

We have an oscellaris clown who came down with ich after one of his pectoral fins was bitten off by something in our main tank.

So we took him out of our main tank and put him into quarantine, we then started a hyposalinity treatment on him. He's been fine for two weeks, the spots haven't disappeared yet, but I think they may have gotten a little bit better, but over the last few days the fin that was bitten off seems to be infected or something, its always been white, but the white bit has been growing, and it looks like its weighing him down and causing him to swim funny or something.

In these pictures he's swimming upside down, he is doing that quite a bit at the moment, but it still swimming upright, and eating.

Does anybody know what we can do to help him?

He probably has a bacterial infection from the injury. You should start treating for that immediately, if it isn't too late. Is he still eating normally? What else is in your tank that would attack him. Do you have an aggressive trigger, snapper, or tomato clown?

    Thanks for your reply!

We went to our local fish shop and brought something to treat him... he's looking pretty bad.... but we're hoping he'll get better....

He was eating normally but hes getting worse very quickly.

We recently discovered that there's a mantis shrimp in our tank, must've come on some live rock. He's not big enough to eat any of our fish yet, but maybe big enough to hurt them. We're going to have to try and catch him somehow....

Probably other fish beating him up. Many will go after what appears to them a weakened fish.

Is there another clown in tank?

yeh there is another clown in the tank, but they seemed to be getting along well. They're both the same type of clowns.

1$ to a donut...other fish is doing it. They are just going at it when they know you are not looking. ;)

If hes still eating you might try mixing some Metronidazole with his food. Antibiotic thats effective for treating skin infections and disorders.

    Good luck!
