Clownfish ??????

    hi,

    i'm about to add livestock to my tank and am going to add 2-baby true percula clownfish tank raised.........will these baby's overtime become a mated pair...........? I really like mated pairs i think its really cool and interesting...........should i add more than just 2 incase they dont pair up?......add 3 or 4?

    I wouldn't add more than two, especially to a new tank. They may or may not become a mated pair, there no definite way to tell. Just have them together and see what happens.

    Its a 55 gallon tank with 10 gallon wet/dry and a 10 gallon fug, teh fish are only about an inch.......................

    im gonna say yes i believe they will

    one life lesson ive learned is when you only have one choice people will usually take it.

    They will probably make a bonded pair; a mated pair however means something specific with clownfish.

    A matched pair are two juvenile that swim together but have not sorted out who will be the female yet

    A bonded pair are two clowns that have figured out who the female will be and have established the hierarchy.

    A mated pair are two clowns that have successfully spawned.

    Chances are very, very good that they will bond. Mating, who knows? Depends on a lot of factors. They are more likely to mate if there are no other animals in the tank.
