OK, I'm up to a 20 g, lots of live rock and I'm getting 2 clowns-tank raised. My question is do I need an anemone to keep them safe from predators?
Meaning my arrow crabs. I've been reading that the clowns like to sleep in the sand. Or should I get rid of the arrows? I kind of like them for the worm clean up. Or should I just get rid of the bigger ones?

You do not need to keep an anemone to successfully maintain a Clown in captivity! I would think twice, however, about keeping an Arrow Crab in your reef tank as they are scavengers as well as predators and their have been numerous horror stories regarding them! I would think about returning the Arrow and purchasing another inhabitant to replace it!

Thanks for the advice, I was already leaning towards getting them out as they are very aggressive.

Move out crabs. Trade in for small BTA anemone.

I would get out the arrow crab.. But, think twice about getting a anenome, I had a bta that got quite large and was beautiful. But it moved around a stung alot of my corals.. Lost 2 leathers, including the one that is in my avatar...

Thanks for all great advice, I traded in 3 of my 4 arrow crabs(one I couldn't catch) for an anemone, here's a pic.

I agree with the guys/girls, if you have a reef tank the arrow crab is a no-no. They look cool but are not "reef safe". BTW, I dont think that condy anemone is going to host clowns, at least mine never did. I dont think thats a BTA.

Thats what I get for trusting the expert at the LFS, he told me that anemone was very easy to keep and would host a clown after some time. Could anyone tell me what kind of anemone this is?
