I just got new actinic LEDS and every time I turn the main lights out the fish go crazy! I have had them for over a year and they have always gotten along. The big clown even bit the small ones bottom back fin and started dragging him around. As soon as the main lights come back on they go back to normal. The orange part of the clowns turn black and I'm wondering if the big clown thinks it a stranger.

Does it actually turn black (i.e is it still black once the "white light" turns on) or does it just look black because the orange wavelength is no longer being emitted from your lights?

They do that to in my tank also. I try not to have the actinicts on too much, it might stress them.

Still, that's the funniest thing I've seen today.

I just wonder if I should leave the lights on and let them get used to it.

Try it, however they may never get used to it.

Maybe they just get a little "Frisky" under moonlight, I know some people do ;-)
