I stopped buying from my LFS because they water they give you is from there enclosed system. So who know what diseases there fish have, people bring them coral and fish all the time. Only in an emergency do I get water from them.

This could have happened to anyone of use, just glad that you caught it in time!

Anytime I add freshwater I can see the water isnt the same. Fresh and salt doesnt look the same when adding it in. How can you not see that when adding it? Plus if you had old salt water just sitting around, then why didnt you use it first? But I taste my water too. Cause I buy fresh and salt. But my store sells IO salt and Red Sea salt water. Bacteria fighting in the middle of the night. ::)

So is it really that bad to taste it? You don't exactly have to drink an entire glass to realize its salt water. Will one little drop really hurt you?

No, I doubt it. Just wouldn't use it as table salt on my eggs every morning ;) I probably got a drinking glass full worths trying to start my HOB skimmer for the first time. And let me tell you, I did realize the "not for human consumption" truth behind the label. Next morning was not fun :-X

Hell I swim in the ocean LOL and have drank many a gallon of saltwater from several oceans and many many tanks over the yrs . I('d worry more about a falling block of commercial jet air liner fecal matter busting my head open and a deadly infection setting in then any saltwater from anywhere .
But hey thats just me , I've eaten C and K rations that where boxed @ canned 20 yrs before I I was eating them .

As for using it on food ? I prefer raw natural sea salt to the mined stuff from under Chicago LOL

What do you mean it doesn't look the same??? After the salt is dissolved it looks just like fresh, clear, water!! At least mine does. I dont know what salt you use, but you better get it checked.;D

:)http://www.lalvinyeast.com/images/library/BACCHUS_MBC.pdf also Biozyme 8g S/W and TAC Dry Bacteria Cultures - 16 oz. | Water Clarifiers | Pond Water Treatments | Pond - ThatPetPlace.com it goes on and on. but my point was that you shouldn't put water from your lfs salt or fresh in your mouth b/c it is full of bacteria!!! and unless the water has no air contact and whomever or whatever is holding/mixing the water is under complete sterile conditions then it is dumb to say that the saltwater you buy from a lfs has no bacteria. and for the record we have been drying bacteria for later reanimation for over 40 years. so take it easy on me,please. if you need more examples of dried bacteria for sale just ask....:)
