You might want to reconsider that Coralife product, for a little more, you can get a better unit. Like PM, AquaC, Korallin, Knop. Luna

I dont have a Ca reactor, never found the need for one yet. My opinion is based on reading and hearing alot of ppl's exp. on the units. Coralife is cheaper than the other units but remember that when you buy cheap(in this hobby), it becomes more expensive in the long run. The brands that I mentioned are top notch, but will last you a life time. Luna

I completely agree with Luna, A CA reactor isnt something that you should go cheap on. A 10 (?) pound tank i think would last a while. Any size tank would work, just the larger means less times to have to get it refilled. Ive even seen some people use Paintball CO2 Tanks for their CA reactors.

How hard is it to keep a calcium reactor????
I might have given to much free rain to the LFS owner who is designing my new tank as now there is plans for a Ca reactor. I know that means a CO2 regulater, tank and all that (which means more money...more things to go wrong, and really bad things if that tank was there last week when the fire broke out) but once it is set up how hard is it to control. I currently have a 75 gallon and have not really had any problems controlling my Ca with dosing. However, the only reason I had not halted the plans is the fact that (and here is where my stupidity comes in) is that I have problems with pH being constantly low at 7.8. I do plan on doing more stony corals than I have right now, and want to do more clams, but what is everybody elses experience with reactors.
I have not researched Ca reactors at all, and just found out that this plan was added today, so I plan on doing some research tonight before I finalize the plan, but I would like others experience and advice also.

I wouldnt give ANY LFS a free reign on seting up a tank. You might as well give them your atm card and the pin #. Luna

KNOP C Calcium reactor with a 5 lb tank is what I use and it does a great job for the money. One other thing you need to look into is a pH controller as you will need to monitor the reactors pH to get good results out of it. I use Carib Sea Calcium Reactor Media for my tank.

Once you start a Ca reactor you will be glad you did, after the set up phase you just walk away from it instead of dosing everyday.

ok riding along with this thread. I just got a LifeReef calcium reactor given to me with co2 bottle, regulators, and all of that good stuff. it has a mag 7 as a recirc on it. I don't know what media to use either.
