hey so I am designing a coast to coast for my 75G tank and was wondering how deep the overflow box needs to be.... also 1" bulk heads should work fine for the Bean right? Im thinking Im going to have it about 42" long that way I can have the return in one corner w/o having to have it go through the overflow box but still have it long enough to keep it quite, also how close to the top of the tank do I need to have it?? haha thanks in advance guys, Im ordering all the stuff I need to do this with the next brs group buy.... so Im excited ;D

Im sure you read the Bean instruction more than a few times already.

When I was building/designing the c2c for my 90g, I wanted to have two return outlets. One on each side. So the overflow box length is 38", 4 1/2" high. Semi-coast to coast :)
What I learned from building mine was that you're gonna have to measure and design AFTER you drill the back wall. The bottom of the overflow box shouldnt be not too far or too close to the bottom of the main drain elbow. Mine is like 5/8" from the glass. So, drill it (just so you know, the hole for the main should be tad lower than secondary and emergency), put the bulkheads on, measure it, mark it, measure it again, re-mark it. Dont forget to include the thickness of the glass itself as well. The top of the overflow box is within the black trim, in my case, so the water top is not visible.

And yes, 1" bulkheads were exactly what I went with. Here is my 90g build thread (in case you havent seen it).

thanks yeah I had def read over the bean animal instructions before Reef had even posted it haha yeah I guess I will just have to wait untill after I drill it to get the measurments for my glass, hey so did you go with 1" piping as well? oh and yeah I have already read through your build and I loved the way you did the zip ties on the overflow, I already decided Im going to steal that idea haha, hey so how far down on the tank did you drill your holes and any reasoning behind it?

I used 1" bulkhead but sanitary T is 1.5", just follow the original Bean instruction :) (But if I think about it now, I think I couldve used 1"s.)

You dont really have to be very specific about where you drill. The main needs to be about 3/8" lower than others. I drilled the holes 2" apart (edge to edge). I did how I did based on this.
