Well I been doin alot of reading lately bout denitrators, and I've been debating building a coil denitrator... does anyone still use these? And would you recommend one? All the forums I've been reading are dates 5+ years ago... so i was curious if people still use them and if they're effective... any input is welcome!! Thanks in advance!!

its definitely older tech for sure. To be honest I think biopellets made these go the way of the dinosaur. That being said I know a guy locally that build a 6 foot tall wood block skimmer a year or two ago :p

From what I've read, I don't believe coil denitrators ever gained much popularity. For one, they were not very effective if you had Nitrate issues, the only reason you would buy one in the first place; the science behind them worked, but the required flow rate was their Achilles' heel. Worse yet, if not operated and maintained properly, they were capable of producing Hydrogen Sulfide and crashing your tank.
