Don't want to steal the wheel but...............

English isn't the 1st language here, I think there is some confusion from what's written to what's meant, as another European I can state that sometimes there is a little confusion in long drawn out posts. Fishtank boy, keep your posts shorter man, you are confusing yourself with the length of posts and the subjects.

Do your thing man, and do it right, keep the animals the reason for doing it, not the reason to tell the world.
    and peace out man.

if you remember we got into a pretty intense debate over youtube on how "awesome" that shop you decided not to go to any more was. remember?

there too it had the characteristics of being owned by an "all knowing" man who would never harm a fly….... now I'm glad to see that you have come to the same conclusions i was trying to make you understand but you could have avoided yourself, and more importantly the animals you kept, a lot of trouble if you had just listened to begin with.

there is no better way to learn than trial and error, I agree with you on this. but this method of learning should be used when trying to learn to ride a bike for example. where if you fail at the first few attempts its your own teeth that you knock out and not the life of an animal…..makes sense?

mind you iv lost fish as well in the hobby, its part of the learning experience but this not only made me feel like a colossal ****** (to stay polite) but more importantly has made me extra receptive to the advice given by others who have a greater experience and more knowledge in the hobby than me.

as va_reef mentioned yes biotopes are awesome! my original motivation when i set up my first saltwater tank was not so much the fact of having an aquarium full of colourful fish and corals (though clearly i quickly learnt to love that) but i was more fascinated by the idea of recreating a "complete" ecosystem in my living room.

rather than throwing yourself into this project headfirst i strongly suggest you read, read, read and read some more. ask questions on forums, like you are doing now but…..listen and apply the advice given to you don't fight it. we are not trying to work against you but rather with you.

Yes, i understand. Thats why i'm setting this tank up in a year or so, but i want to plan ahead, to make sure that i know as much as possible. Now that i've been at the oceanarium, it has really inspired me, and has opened my eyes to see how awesome oceans are around Denmark. Its amazing they gave me the oppurtunity, to just go and get some fish from them if i want. Yeah, going with the biotope theme for sure :) That is going to be alot more nice looking, working and better i think :) So gonna go with blennies, sea stars, crabs and a lemon sole. Sadly, there is not alot of reading to do on this topic, other than fishermen that tells how to catch them :( They're not fish that are normally kept in this hobby, which really sucks. But, i think i might find some hobbyists in my area, that actually has an aquarium like this, and has had it for many years. I can ask them for advice :) Thanks for the feedback, please come with suggestions if you have any. Cheers! :)

This sounds like a great idea. Good luck on it.

I have to address this post. The reason is mostly research. No offense but you sound like an animal rights activist. Here in NJ, on Sandy Hook there is a huge tank setup. A research vessel goes out and scoops up a whole school of fish, sometimes it's bluefish, sometimes other species. They place the entire school of fish into the aquarium and study them for months sometimes before releasing them back into the sea.
I see no threat in what the OP is planning. Do you not think the natural environment of the north sea is stressful to an animal? Dodging bird eating fish, larger fish, pollution, weather\storms, recreational fishermen, commercial fishermen? It's a tough world out there for a fish. The OP might be saving some of these fish temporarily.

I will either give the fish back to the oceanariums 4,5 million liter tank, or the ocean, because the North Sea is about a 20 minute drive from my house, so yeah, can just put them in after some acclimation in some buckets :)
