Here's a coral frag someone brought up from 60 miles south of Navarre FL at approx. 100ft. Anyone know what it might be? I have had it a week now and it seems to be doing well in my refugium with 24wt PC 50/50. It was found at a depth of 100+ft so I thought it might need low light.

I have no idea :) Are those siphon looking things part of the coral or has the coral encrusted over them? Here's an i.d. site that might help:

It kinda looks like a pavona but looks like it could be some sort of sponge at the same time. Either way, was that even legally collected?

Florida has some collection rules mostly for hard corals and sea fans and live rock.
Anything > 12 miles is international waters and you can collect as many corals as you want. Or you can dump as much waste, nuclear or not as you want. International boundries are great don't you think...

It's defenatly a hard coral, not sponge. I asked the guy I got it from who dives for the stuff and he says it is legal. I asked when I got it. He was supposedly out 60 miles. I know that there isn't much to collect as far as coral any closer up this way.
