I currently have a 24 LED constant current kit from rapidLED.com over my 30g tank and i've been thinking about changing my color balance a bit. Currently there are 12 whites and 12 royal blues (11 working/1 grounded?) I think I want to switch out some whites for.......? More blues? violets? What do you guys think? I def want a better color balance than the 50/50 I have now. Thanks guys!

Dedinitely try and mix it up. If for some reason you don't like it, you can always put your old LEDs in.

The only thing with the constant current driver is that the violets run at a lower current than the other LEDs. Their max is at 700 mA, so just take that into consideration.

I would switch out your drivers to dimmables first. Then Lower the wattage of the whites and see what you think

I'm definitely kicking myself for not going the dimmable driver route in the first place. Ok so first iteration of the plan. New dimmable drivers for the 23 LEDs currently in place. A replacement royal blue for the dead LED. ~4 new LEDS to play with my color balances a bit.

Soldered it all together last night and got it up and running. When I get home from work today I'll play with my color balances. I ended up getting 4 new violet LED's that I put on one of my old constant current drivers and putting the two strings of 12 on a 2 color dimmable kit from RapidLED. Only lost a partial fingerprint, not too bad all things considered. I have a bad habit of subconsciously trying to steady my hand with my middle finger.
