    Yes the biggest issue to me for using colored sand instead of the natural aragonite if you have corals is the bleaching often evident on the undersides of the corals from insufficient lighting. The reflecting of the light off of the light colored substrate helps to avoid this to some degree!

    I read that the black and white sand was most likely sand from volcanic regions and would have levels of phosphate?
