I have one large colt on one small piece of rock. It almost covers the hole rock at the base. question that i have is how do i get him to move over to a bigger piece of base rock? Any help would be great.

    Thanks Eric

Ok this is what ive doen when i fragged my colt, take a razor blade or sharp scissors and slice it off as close to the base as you can, try not to hack at it, make as clean of a cut as you are able! Then you will take the coral and the larger rock you want it on, and lay the coral on the rock, try to get it base down if you can, it will kinda lay wierd at first which is why i said "if you can" lol, then you will cover the whole rock with a piece of bridal veil (spelling?) material (i got mine at walmart for 98 cents a yard) and twist the loose ends under the rock or tie them or whatever to make sure the material stays put, try not to make the material too tight or too loose also...then place the rock as close to where the coral was to begin with (try to keep the lighting and flow the same) and then the fun part comes...waiting;D...mine only took about 5 days to attach to the rock...but it could take up to 2 weeks so i would give it at least a week then take off the material and see if it has attached itself...if it has then your all done...if not just cover and wait again

EDIT: oh i wanted to add if you want to try it out you dont have to cut the whole thing at first, just snip off a branch and follow the same directions...but i dont think you could mess it up...colt is pretty hardy lol. ive putt mine through the wringer and its all still alive and kickin'! oh also did you mean to type indiana PA? because if so your kinda near me!) i mean you not down the road from me or anything, but as far as others on 3reef go we are practically neighbors haha!

Otherwise get some reef-safe expoxy and stick the littler rock onto the bigger rock :).

I think colts are similar to kenya trees, those I just snip off an inch from the base, stick the tree into a hole in the live rock somewhere else (Or tie it on or some such thing), and enjoy watching the stump grow back out.

Well, I don't actually stick kenya trees anywhere else in my rock, but if I wanted more that's what I'd do ::)

oh yea you could just stick the small rock to a bigger rock lol, that does seem a lot easier...idk about just sticking them in a hole though...the current may blow them off and around the tank before it gets a chance to attach itself...unless your tank has low flow then you may be ok...i just assume everyones is like mine and its like a water torndao in there haha!
