i got a colt coral that i want to transfer to another tank. it has attached itself to a big piece of live rock, so i need to remove it from the rock. the coral is in a bad place and my fish is always nipping at it. needless to say, it is always shriveled up and not very happy.
any advice about removing it? i was thinking about cutting it off at the rock with a pair of scissors. colt coral seem like a very tough coral, i don't think it will kill it. what do yaw think?

I found that yes you can and that they are prone to microbial infections during fragging
and then after you cut it off you should put it in a container with rubble inside the tank and it can take up to a week to fully attach itself to the rock pieces
