I have a pretty large colt thats been in my tank about six months,2 days ago it stopped opening and appears limp and deflated.Tank paramiters are good and everything else is doing well.Is this normal from time to time or is it really doing poorly for some reason.Nothing else seems to be touching it

Hi sailor guy - I had a colt that did this every once in a while - down for maybe 2 or 3 days, then back up again

IMO this is normal behavior with many species of soft corals, they expell all fluids and then re inflate some time later - the timing varies thats all.

I just had mine do the "white melt" thing and split into two. It is still not back up to its normal look but hoping it will come around. it has been over a week.

Did not know the split on their own but i guess they have to multiply somehow.

Have you got a Flame Angel or any other kind of Drawf Angel?
I had the same problem and it turns out the Flame Angel was pecking at it every once in awhile.

I have a potters angel but havent noticed it picking at any corals, skunk cleaner shrimp was on it yesterday, the colt that is.Today it looks as though theres dead tissue coming off and "new tissue " under it. Worried it may crash my tank, like a anenome, so far everthing else looks really good.
