Is it a Colt? I always thought Colts were more tree like. The guy at the LFS said it was but he's steered me wrong more than once.

He's the only one in the city. Next closest is 2 hours away. Makes it tough to be choosy. I do a lot of research myself but there are always variations within any species and sometimes it is hard to pinpoint.

I picked this up at my LFS as a "colt coral", I've read that the term "colt" is grossly overused and is therefore useless as a specimen classification. Its kind of like saying "pliers" or "wrench", when in fact it should be "long handled insulated needle nose pliers".

It's a Finger leather Capnella sp also called a pineapple finger leather. Not a colt.

There are so many variation of similar corals I wouldn't fault the LFS. Odds are they just sold it as what it was called on the invoice from the wholesaler
