is it possible to dose 2 part and mag out of the same container? I would think you could find the rate of consumption for each part of two part, then the mag. put the correct ratios of stuff in one jug and dose from there. or would the calcium, carbonate, and mg components not play well with each other mixed?? anyone tried this? one dosing pump, one jug, one timer.

    Hi,

IIRC, mag and cal should not be mixed together in the same doser or top-off container as it may create negative or unstable results. Perhaps someone with more knowledge will chime in and give better insight. :)

Do not mix them they will not play nice. You may be able to mix Ca and Mg as long as the solutions are not too high.

hrmm how would i test. two known concentrations from 1 liter ea. ie Mg and Ca. mix the two. shake well. let sit for a few hours. test and multiply by 2 to compensate for doubling of volume? dunno. chemists chime in. ;D if you think about it its all in our salt mixes already right?

Take a couple of mls of each and mix them together and see what happens. No multiplication needed. You will need to figure out how much Ca and Mg you use daily and then create your mix in the same ratio. If you use 10X more Ca than Mg then make your test mix 10ml Ca and 1 ml Mg. If it doesn't precipitate then you can dose at you usage rate.

    negative ghostrider.

Calcium + soda ash = white goo.
Calcium + bicarbonate = white goo.
Mag + soda ash = white goo.
Calcium + bicarbonate = white goo.
Calcium + mag = long white crystals (delayed).

Had a feeling that was going to happen. Just don't have the knowledge to explain it.
