i have a 110 watt compact flourescent striplight on my tank along with a single striplight with a coral sun actinic 420 wich is 7 watts ,my tank is a 40 gallon breeder the dimensions are 36"long,18"wide,17"deep, almost forgot i have in the compact 2 55 watt white lights the box says they are 9325 kelvin lamps , and im wondering if that lighting is ok for aneomonies and soft corals.right now i have a carpet, and 2 long tenticle anemonies, some ricordia, and mushrooms.

Maybe for softies, but not anemones. The carpet and the long tentacle will eventually die. To keep a carpet you need MH or VHO. Are you willing to upgrade your lighting?

i am willing to upgrade but i just had to have major back surgery so i cant now,and i dont want to lose my little guys ,what sucks is my lfs told me that they would do good with these lights and i found out down the road here that they arent .and now im stuck, and they just did it for the money.thanks for the info though.

    Tim,

Why don't you see if there is a Marine aquarium club/society in your area. They often do livestock swaps etc :)

i looked on captive reefs.com and i would need a minimum of $233.00 for a 2 bulb setup and i just cant swing it,ive looked for clubs in my area and havent heard of any that and i would hate to get rid of my little guys unless i really have to . i dont want them to die .ive become attached like them ,since my surgery all i can do is take care of my tanks and the little guys in them.

I do understand :) I was suggesting a swap with other members so you would have new animals to take care of :)

Have a look at this link

    http://www.reefaquariumguide.com/clubs/

I think there are 3 clubs that could be of interest to you :)

I have a used 250 MH bell pendant set up that i can let go for $150. I am up in Milwaukee if you are interested. It has a AB 10K bulb and a E-ballast. Let me know if this helps!
