    Hey guys,

I am a complete coral noob. I dont currently have any coral or anemones in my 55g tank that currently houses two ocellaris clowns, two reef chromis and a small clean up crew.

I am wondering that is required for keeping corals. I currrently have a sump, with skimmer and miracle mud refugium section.

I have heard the best determinants of your ability to keep corals is your flow rate and lighting. I have about 1800 lph flow through my sump. Is this to much or not enough.

I currently have LED lighting by HETO, but im not sure how many watts this equates to.

Are there any good beginner corals? I would like a few good beginner corals and get a good anemone that my clowns could possible house?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Ryan.

I would look into zoanthids or some leather corals, also to keep coral, consistent parameters are a must. Hold off on the anenome until you get a better understanding of your system and coral in general, as anenomes require very stable water quality, and high lighting. HTH

I would start with mushrooms and zoas as they are both lower light corals. They are great beginner corals because they are very resilient. Those are exactly Wht I started with and once you get the hang of everything it's an easy transition to bigger and better things

If your looking to buy online go to saltcritters.com and look at their selection. If you has any questions ask them they are very helpfull and they know a lot!!

good advice. Just go slow, sounds like you have things going on. do you have a reef test kit? I'd suggest start testing for Mag. Alk. and cal....just to get the idea of where you stand before you get going...zoas and shrooms should be no problem as mentioned above..xenias and colt also...but these can become nuisances and hard to get rid of down the road.....jmo.....so keep on asking questions...before you jump. : ) ...let us know what the results are...I'd be curious....oh, I almost forgot...PICTURES !!!!! LOL ; )
