Oh wow... That is weird! make sure everything is triple checked... Might be worth while to check through the bioballs as welL! I hope the fish shows up!

Hate to say this, but check inside your light hood, unless it's above the eggcrate.

It didn't go carpet surfing did it? You said there was a gap where the overflow is, maybe it jumped and then flopped around a little on the ground. Did you check all around the tank and then a little ways away from the tank?

check the whole floor, the whole room haha I had a large 5" orange spot goby jump from my tank and he some how made it over 8 feet from the tank to his final resting spot behind my open door...i couldn't find him for 3 days... until i shut my door and there was some goby jerky looking up at me.

Good luck! Tusk is my DREAM fish! the second I get my own place im getting a tank large enough to keep one...I can only imagine how you must feel

I checked around my tank on the floor, under my stand, in the overflow, even in the sump area....nothing! I even did a full water change to try to get him out whever he is..... not even one trace! I checked the lighting fixture that seals the whole top and nothing there. There is 2 small 1.25" holes in each side, but these are blocked by my powerhead and heater wires. i checked around there anyways and still no signs. This is driving me nuts...the crabs are like scarlet reef hermit crabs about 1" each. do you think they could of eaten him in 5-6 hours, bones included?!

I doubt it - I have 5 scarlet hermits and they didn't even finish my tiny sharknose goby in three days...left behind bones and some flesh. This is so bizarre!

Nope, they wouldn't have eaten the bones.

I guess its time for me to clean out my garage then and check around. :( The only possibility is that he somehow jumped out of the heater holes (i've seen him dance around the top of the water before)....sigh. The tusk was my favorite too! :(

when you check the overflow use a flashlight.

it could be stuck in a tube/pipe to the sump
