So brand new 10 gal tank, filled with water and salt yesterday. The glass top interior is completely covered with condensation...is this normal or is this a problem?

This is normal because of the evaporation of water. You will also start to notice salt creep on the glass as well.

The combination of the two will significantly reduce the impact of your lights for corals and such. That is why I took the risk of running an open top system. Personally I prefer the look.

That's completely normal. If you have low pH, you might need to remove the top (or modify it).

Another forum suggested using eggcrate? Would this fix my problem? I would like to eventually have a Purple Firefish and need something to keep him in.

Yes, egg crate will help with the issues that I and Brannock have mentioned. Unfortunately, even with eggcrate, sometimes these fish manage to get out.

There's a couple of other solutions that I've seen recently on 3Reef but I don't remember who posted them. A few minutes with the search engine should find those threads.
