I've had a condy for about 6 months. Recently I Noticed it was shrinking down after the lights being on for a few hours and staying shrunk all day. My cleaner shrimp has been harassing it trying to clean its tentacles when its awake over the last month or so. Could this be stressing it out? I was always more worried about the shrimp than the condy. Just over the last few days I have noticed the condy losing grip with its foot on the rock and sleeping upside down in his nook with his foot touching nothing. I thought he was dead so I began to scoop him out and I wanted to see if he would grab a hold of something before I took him out and sure enough he had a tiny tiny grip on a rock I touched him to so I figured he was just acting strange.

He has been flipping upside down on his tentacles and losing grip with his foot on the rock during the night. He wakes up several hours after the daylights finally come on and he will stay open for a few hours then close up until the next day. This has been going on for a week. I haven't fed him in about 3 weeks because when I'm home, even during the day sometimes, it remains shrunken. I have been feeding him raw shrimp mostly. Should I remove him from the tank? Is there anything you can suggest to do to try to help it? Should I put it in a bucket with some rock and light and small flow?

I got a 90 gallon total water volume, around 100lbs of rock, fuge, 4x54w t5s (4 month old bulbs), 2x18w T5s in custom slot on canopy. The anemone has moved around a lot in one portion of my tank since I got it. Its ran over My paly rock with at least 200palys, a few other paly colonies, some zoos, purple shrooms, red shrooms, and a finger leather. All were temporarily affected except the leather. Could the toxins from the zoos, shrooms, palys do harm to the nem?

I'm at work so I can't post my parameters but I can do so when I get home. Should be a surprise for both 3reef and myself because its been awhile since I did any tests other than salinity. I have been doing extra water changes and I guess I am assuming that my tank is stable. I just got a refractometer so I know my salinity is good at 1.025. The only thing I notice different with my tank was that my temp has dropped a few degrees over the last week during the night. Normally sat at 78 and it dropping to 75 over night. I do not think that is the problem but I thought I would mention it. I'm pretty sure my tank has always dropped a few degrees over night. I'm going to replace my heater to try to get it more stable. The slight temp swings have not affected any of my corals or fish. I've never had a coral die in my year + of reefing except xenia.

Sorry for the long post. Just want to be specific.

As for test kits I have:
    Ammonia
    Nitrite
    Nitrate
    PH
    Calcium
    Mag
    Total Alk
    Carbonate Alkalinity
    Borate Alkalinity

I will post results around 5pm Central time.

Could be tryihg to go on walkabout,my green bubble tip used to do this whan it was on the move, finally settled in and grew huge after I upgraded my lights to m/h.Have you done anything to change light or flow in your tank recently? I doubt the shrimp is the problem, mine would try to steal food from the nem also, that is until it grew large, then everything stayed clear of it.

I just installed my canopy with reflective interior white paint and removed my glass tops so there is more light making it into the tank. The anemone never seems to like the bright light. He has always stayed near the bottom of the tank. There is rockwork leading to brighter light but he doesn't seem to want it. Haven't changed the flow too much. I had to adjust one of my koralias to get it to stop splashing my light but thats it. I just added my new canopy about a week ago. He's been acting up for like a month.

So should I leave tit be and let it do its thing? Should I move it high up on a nice rock with no flow and try to get it to attach? Should I at least flip it over to get it to plant its foot back on a rock?

Im really not all that experiencedwith them, never had a condy, but my green bubble tip I would just place in what seemed to be a good spot for it,sometimes it would stay there for quite awhile.Other times it would move to another part of the tank everyday. It finally settled after I upgraded my lights. You seem to have enough light so thats probably not a problem. If it were my tank and I wanted to keep corals,I would remove it while its not attached, maybe get some store credit for it.

It ate a crap load of mysis yesterday morning and stayed up almost until my daylights went off at night. Considering this guy is chilling on the bottom of the tank, and rarely eats (because hes never open), he's probably being deprived of nutrients. One from the lack of light, and the lack of feedings. I'm going to try to snag him up tonight when his foot loosens up and place him higher in the tank. I will also increase his feedings. I don't think the fish store would give me more than 5 bucks for a condy, so thats probably last resort. I will try to save him instead.

Well, I can home yesterday and he was drifted around on my sand bed. The bottom of his foot was encrusted with sand so I know he is now trying to plant himself now that he is good and fed. I scooped him up and put him on the other side of the tank on a nice clean rock on the top portion of the tank. He stuck! So it looks like that was the problem. I'll be able to tell when I get home today to see how good his foot is planted and how is is reacting to the extra light.
