i passed by petco today and found that they have a condy but it is white in the center. is that normal or it is dying. the tentacles at the base are white but get darker toward the end. and the tip still pink. i have a 75g tank fowlr. 4x54w t5. the guy that works there said it split a while ago from a tank raised condy but i did not see any other anemone in their tanks. i dont want to buy an anemone taken from the wilds.

i've never been to a petco, but i find that family owned lfs are the way to go. and im pretty sure they dont host condies. but if you wanna go reef and get a torch coral, clowns will host those if you cant get a nem

Proof that it is possible. These are both mine and it's been going on for about 7 months now.

I know I got lucky with those two, but it was in my pictures stored on here so I figured I would bust it out for the occasion.

What is too long? It's been about 7 months.

I actually thought about removing the condy because I don't like the Maroon hosting in it. I would rather the clown swim around the tank like a normal fish. Instead it just sits in the condy all day long. I heard that if you take away the condy while the clown is hosting it there could be possible side effects, like depression or something. I dont know and Im not going to try to understand all the parts that make up a symbiotic relationship between a clown and nem.

I do know my condy doesn't eat my clown but it sure does eat cardinal fish as I was witness to that circle of life moment.

Mine hosted a condy for while..then just one day they left and never touched it again...honestly, i would get a GBTA. THey look alot better anyways..but its up too you...Condy's have a very high sting compared to most natural hosts to a anemone. But sometimes the clowns dont mind and will stay with it, but most of the time they just endup leaving it.

I want it to leave the condy. I can't wait for that day so I can remove the condy, trade it to the LFS and get something else.
