Due to the light issues I have had recently, the anemone I have is on its death bed. My LFS doesnt want it, so what do I do?

Its shriveled up to the size of a golf ball at the moment. Its not eating its normal food. Its lacking its 'sticky' properties in, whats left of, the tentacles. It doesnt react at all to shrimp or crabs that come near it anymore.

I need to get rid of this thing before it dies and releases toxins right? I got part of my light fixture fixed so I thought it was going to do better but I fear its too late.

Heres a pick of it before the light fixture broke and after its all shriveled up in a little brown ball. It used to eat rods food or straight krill and now its not taking anything. Used to like garlic pellets as well oddly enough and now its rejecting those too.

    yesterdays testing:
    0-nitrate
    0-nitrite
    480/ppm - calc
    10dkh alk
    ph 8.3
mg - (kits bad needs replacement)
    edit: PO4 - 0.25

havent done anything with the tank other than loose the lighting. i had 4x54W T5HO. it was doing fine for 2 months till the lighting went out. i just got 2x54W going the other day, meanwhile i had been using a old 24w(i believe) 24" wide full spectrum T8 bulb which was weak.

can i just flush it? how does one dispose of an anemone?

Sounds like it was probably the reduction of light that caused it to die, sorry for your loss!

yeah it was. the water parameters stayed in check and its feed cycling and such didnt change, and until last week it was still eating. without the light thought it couldnt make it. R.I.P.

Learned alot from owning one though. I wont be buying another anemone... atleast not for this tank.
