Does my tank need oxygen and how do i know there enough.

Every tank needs oxygen. Fish breathe it.

Surface agitation lets gas exchange happen. It pretty much lets the levels of dissolved gasses in the tank (oxygen and carbon dioxide in particular) match the levels in the air around the tank. Without surface agitation, a thin layer of crud builds up on the surface, which gas exchange can't happen through.

The tiny bubbles are normally referred to a micro bubbles and are usually from a skimmer or from water splashing down from like a return or something. I don't have any power heads directly pointed at the surface but there is some surface agitation. A skimmer will help a lot with adding oxygen. I think macro algae helps with adding oxygen too(i know plants do in a FW tank). As for telling if you have enough oxygen I have no idea...

    Marie,

The tiny bubbles are not a problem in that they won't hurt anything, but asthetically most people prefer not to have them. As for the cause in your tank, we need to know more about your set up. Do you have a sump and return pump or are the bubbles coming from the powerheads catching air at the surface? I would suggest that you want 'ripples' on the surface for aggitation but not bubbles. If the bubbles are from powerheads, just point them slightly deeper in the tank.

    Hope that helped.
