I was lookong for a new sump for my new 110 gal. tank. I was looking at the Aqueon Pro flex #3.( max size 110gal) I would go with the larger but wont fit under my tank. The #3 holds (if i did my math right) 25.8 gal. Will this be enough? also is this a good system? I was going to use a deep sand bed, good size skimmer(any recomendations) and possibly set up a little refugium in side of it also.I know I could go cheaper and build myself one but dont want to bother and i am not that crafty.
    thanks for any input

Size isn't so much of a big deal as long as you can get everything you want, especially since you already have 100+ gallons to work with. For myself, I only have a 40ga. so every bit more helps.

Thank you! I was worried since i read that it is recomended to have 1/2 your tank gallons. I would not have room for 50gal under my tank.

1/2 your tank in gallons? Is that true...I have just over 1/3. But it is the biggest sump I can fit under my tank.

I have a 10g sump/fuge under my 38g tank. That's the largest that fits under my stand and it has worked wonderfully.

I hope it's not true.Just some reading somewhere I saw. This is why I was wondering if the sump I was asking about would be ok. since the only one i can fit is 25gal. But not getting to many replies on this sump.:)

never heard that rule of thumb before. I had a 20l as the sump on my 90gallon, I upgraded it to a 40breeder so I could have a larger fuge and extra space for overflow during any outages.

i can see how its NICE to have a sump 1/2 the volume of your DT...but i cant see that it's necessary. pretty sure it just needs to fit your equipment. after all, some people don't even use em.

oh and those are pricy. give DIY a try, sump building isnt that bad and you can get exacly what you need!

    Thanks everybody!
I will fell better getting the sump I am looking at. For some reason the stand on this seamless glass bowfront I got did not give me more than 31" length to work with underneath . Any good recomendations on an in sump or in sump hang on skimmer? the one I am using is at least 10yrs old.Things have changed so much since I set up my tank that I have now. Been up for 15 yrs.
