I just changed to a Lifegard setup so that I can use my SWCD to get better water movement. Anyway, all I have is the one mechanical module. If I want biological filtration, which module do I use? I'd also like to be able to use the media that reduces organic waste, I can't think of the name right now..., but what module would use that? I see they have chemical modules as well as a fluidized bed filter. The bed filter looks good but it looks like I would have to use a smaller outlet on it than what I need to run my SWCD. Anyone have any experience or info on the Lifegard system?

As for the biological part of your filtration...I would save your money as the live sand and rock in your tank should be sufficient to control and maintain proper biological filtration and bacteria growth as well as many filter feeding animals!

Well that's the thing...I don't have any live rock yet...or filter feeders. Soon I hope but I didn't know if my live sand alone is enough until then.

If you are talking about the Rainbow lifeguard systems ? then you want the
Single module with a combination cartridge holds the mechanical pleated cartridge Its about 1.5 ft tall and 3 or 4 inches in diameter . I set up a shop with the commercial larger system had like 8 chambers .. I used of of the U/V's for a long time.. But you have to be sure to order the Combination unit as it holds the pleated Pool like filter element and then the carbon chamber is built into that same one. They will filter like a hot tub or pool But you have to have a Hoss of a pump Higer pressure pump only will do.

It sounds like the one I have, the AF-94. It has a pleated filter and inside you can pour media in. Right now I am using it for charcoal but I wanted to know about a second (or third) for the Bio-zorb (I think it's called) or what I need for biological filtration.
